“Ruins Trail” takes up where “Greek E.P.” leaves off. An expression of the wonders of nature and the fear of the human desire to conquer, the album draws on emotional insight and outward beauty. It combines melancholy synths with expressive guitar solos and intricately constructed rhythms. Tracks like “Famous” and “Hallow this Ground” make light of familiar samples juxtaposing vocal-centric pieces like “River Flows” and “In November.” At times Pedrodomus may seem manic in his style on “Ruins Trail,” but for everyday it storms, there is always warmth in the days to follow.
